Sugar Cookies – yummmm

This is my most favorite recipe for sugar cookies, I have never used another one, EVER. I have tweaked this cookie recipe a little so I’ve made it my own, but comes from an old cook book from 1996 I keep kicking around cause it has alot of my favorites.

I learned to cook out of this cookbook so it’s pretty special to me, I think it might of been a shower gift. 1996 was the year I was married, the pages are stained, half torn and very well used – I think that’s the best kind of recipe book! In a digital world, it’s still fun to pull out something with so many memories.

Keep this recipe close, I am using today for some fun Halloween cookies for my grown daughters to decorate (they still love to do that at age 18 & 21) but it will also come in very handy for all the Christmas baking that is just around the corner friends!

TRACEY’S SUGAR COOKIES

  • Butter 3/4 cup
  • Granulated Sugar 3/4 cup
  • Large Egg 1
  • Vanilla 1 tsp
  • All Purpose Flour 2 cups
  • Baking Soda 1 tsp
  • Cream of Tar Tar 1 tsp
  • Salt 1/4 tsp

Cream butter and sugar in large bowl. Add egg and vanilla. Beat

Mix remaining ingredients in separate bowl. Stir into batter. Roll out 1/8 inch (3mm) thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into rounds or different shapes. Bake onto greased cookie sheet in 350 F oven for about 10 minutes. Cool. Decorate – EAT!

Makes approx 7 dozen cookies – ENJOY!

Ok so apparently we didn’t have Halloween cookie cutters OR the right color food coloring, so this is what we did – all tastes the same – YUMMMMMY!
